Two exhibitions by Ruskin’s Jesse Darling now open

Jesse presents The Ambassadors at Palais de Tokyo in Paris and Godsworth at Oude Kirk in Amsterdam.

Artist and Associate Professor at the Ruskin, Jesse Darling, presents two exhibitions this spring!

Jesse's installation 'Les Ambassadeurs’ at Palais de Tokyo in Paris is part of ‘Normes Corps’, a season of exhibitions and events examining vulnerability, disability, and difference as sources of enrichment, challenging ableist norms and a society driven by performance, productivity, and conventional standards of beauty. Through diverse artistic approaches, the programme repositions fragility as a shared human condition, encouraging more inclusive perspectives and greater accessibility within cultural institutions.

Jesse's work transforms the Palais de Tokyo’s grande verrière into a haunting landscape of eroded symbols of power, which, through a deliberate undoing of order, reflects on the fragility of material and ideological systems while resisting the norms of a productivist world.

Until 13 September

'Godsworth' is an installation at Oude Kerk in Amsterdam, which transforms a church floor covered in construction rubble into a landscape of playful sculptures made from reclaimed everyday materials, emphasising waste as “matter in transition” rather than an endpoint. Inspired by former altars as sites of gathering, the work presents shifting assemblages that reflect how value, meaning, and social structures are constantly being redefined.

Alongside the exhibition, the Oude Kerk presents a public programme, including guided tours, concerts, and workshops. During the final weekend of the exhibition, Jesse Darling will host an Evening Service.

Until 27 September.
