Recent Ruskin BFA graduate Meg Erridge has won the prestigious prize for the extended essay she submitted in her final year.
Ruskin graduate (BFA 2023), Meg Erridge, has been awarded the Henry Moore Dissertation Prize for the work she submitted in her final year. Meg’s dissertation, 'Escaping the Panopticon: One-way Mirrors, (in)Visibility, and State Surveillance’ argues that the panopticon, as a mechanism for the centralisation and disembodiment of power, has been actualised through the surveillance state in which we live today. It is comprised of postcards sent through ‘the elaborate web of bureaucracy’ of the postal system. The selection panel identified it as 'stylistically original, with a strong underlying premise argued convincingly as the narrative develops in unexpected directions’ and ‘a pleasure to read'.
