Francis Hamel

Francis Hamel teaches the Wednesday evening life drawing classes.

Francis lives and works in Oxfordshire and divides his time as a painter between working for exhibitions and doing commissions. He studied at The Ruskin School of Art in Oxford while at Magdalen College.

He exhibits regularly with John Martin of London, at 38 Albemarle Street, and all new work can be seen there. Commissions include murals and portraits.

Francis has taken part in numerous group exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for 2005, 2006 and 2007. Solo exhibitions have been held in: The Newman Rooms, Oxford (1983); Magdalen College, Oxford (1984); Ozten Zeki, South Kensington (1993); Art 2002 at The Design Centre, Islington; John Martin of London, Albemarle Street, London (numerous, 1995-present); The Said Business School, Oxford (2004); The Charles Dickens Museum (2010); Arte Fiera Bologna (2011).

His work is held in private collections in the U.S.A., Russia, Japan, Africa and throughout Europe. Corporate and private collections include Oxford University Press, Goldman Sachs, The Noel Coward Theatre, Rolls Royce, Sir Trevor Nunn, Fortnum and Mason, Lady Margaret Hall, Farrer and Co, Sir Cameron Mackintosh, The Prince of Wales Theatre & Wyndham’s Theatre, London and many others.
