Tutor Role

The Ruskin School of Art invites expressions of interest in the role of hourly paid tutor (studio practice) for the 2025-26 academic year (October to June).

The Ruskin invites expressions of interest from practising artists, with experience of teaching at degree level, in providing hourly-paid teaching on its Bachelor of Fine Art programme from October 2025. The School is looking to take on a tutor for the 2025-26 year to provide tutorials to up to 5 undergraduate tutees, 3 times per term across each of the university’s three terms (Oct-Dec; Jan-Mar; April-June); and to facilitate one group crit per term. 

 

The tutor will be entitled to 4 days’ pay per term, comprising one day (7.5 hours at £32 per hour) for each of the 3 sets of 5 tutorials and one day for each group crit, making a total of 12 days across the academic year. Additional duties may be assigned during the course of the year by mutual agreement, but there is no requirement to provide any duties beyond the tutorials and group crits. 

 

The tutor will be appointed to a 1-year casual teaching appointment. One hour is payable for each day commute for tutors who live more than 25 miles from Oxford (a maximum of 12 across the year, unless additional duties are assigned). Holiday time at 12.07% is payable for each hour worked (i.e. £32 * 0.1207 = £3.86).

 

Expressions of interest (EoI) should include a CV and brief cover note (max 500 words) outlining your commitment and approach to teaching, relevant teaching experience, and interest in teaching for the Ruskin School of Art in particular.
