The Ruskin School of Art is delighted to announce that Elizabeth Price and Corin Sworn have been appointed as University Lecturers in Fine Art and will join the department on a permanent basis from October 2012.
Elizabeth studied at the Ruskin School of Art and the Royal College of Art. She has had solo exhibitions and screenings of her films at Tate Britain, BFI Southbank, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Chisenhale, Bloomberg SPACE and Frieze Art Fair. Her work featured in British Art Show 7 – In the Days of the Comet and she was nominated for the Jarman Award 2011. This year she has been nominated for theTurner Prize for her solo exhibition HERE at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. This included a new work called CHOIR, which was made while Elizabeth held the Arts Council England Helen Chadwick Fellowship in Oxford and Rome.
Elizabeth is represented by MOTInternational and she will take up a Non-tutorial Fellowship at Lady Margaret Hall on her arrival in Oxford.
Corin studied at the University of British Columbia, Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, Emily Carr Institute of Arts and Design and Glasgow School of Art. She has had solo exhibitions at Tate Britain, Tramway, Timespan Museum and Arts Centre, Washington Garcia, ZieherSmith, Or Gallery, Access and the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver. Corin was nominated for the Jarman Award 2011 and this year she received a Jerwood/Film and Video Umbrella Award. She has been artist-in-residence at St John’s College, Oxford since April and her work has recently featured in the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art and the LUX/ICA Biennial of Moving Images.
Corin is represented by Blanket Contemporary Inc and Kendall Koppe Gallery and she will take up a Non-tutorial Fellowship at St Anne’s College on her arrival in Oxford.
