The Ruskin School of Art graduate was presented his award by multi-media artist Adam Chodzko at Turner Contemporary in Margate on 7 November for his work ‘You are necessary here’, 2013 which includes paintings, hand-made objects and clothing.  His works are characterised by their vibrant palette, the traditional and humble materials from which they are constructed and by a keen exploration of pattern.

Created to support new artistic talent in the South East region, Platform 2013, is a partnership between four galleries: Aspex Gallery, MK Gallery, Modern Art Oxford and Turner Contemporary devised in collaboration with the Contemporary Visual Arts Network South East (CVAN).  Each organisation selected graduates from their local area to participate in this series of exhibitions.

Dom’s work can be seen at Modern Art Oxford until 17 November 2013.  The winner was announced on 7 November at a special event at Turner Contemporary and was selected by a panel including Joanne Bushnell, Director of Aspex Gallery, Paul Hobson, Director of Modern Art Oxford, Victoria Pomery, Director of Turner Contemporary and Anthony Spira, Director of MK Gallery.  They were joined on the panel by multi-media artist Adam Chodzko.
