The winner of this year’s OUP Pirye Prize is Camilla Metcalf (St Edmund Hall). Congratulations! Five shortlisted second year students have been offered an exhibition in the Walton Street offices of OUP. Lambert Wiesing announced as Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professor at the Ruskin School

Professor Lambert Wiesing has been awarded a 2013 Leverhulme Trust Visiting Professorship at the Ruskin School. Through the generous support of the Leverhulme Trust, he will be holding a series of lectures, talks and workshops at the University of Oxford in Trinity Term.

Mapping South: Journeys in South-South Cultural Relations

With an international editorial collective led by the Ruskin’s Director of Graduate Studies Dr Anthony Gardner, Mapping South explores the South as a complex platform for regional identity and cultural provocation through essays, interviews and artworks by contributors from Australia and around the world.

The Ashmolean Design Award

Emily Motto is the winner of the The Ashmolean Design Award 2013. Emily’s stunning design is now being considered for a host of new items that will be sold in the museum shop from May. One example is shown in the image above, alongside a photo of the original artefact from the Ashmolean’s collection.

Black Drop premieres at the Radcliffe Observatory

For the past two years the Ruskin School has been collaborating with Modern Art Oxford on a new film by the Turner Prize-winning artist Simon Starling, which responds to the rare planetary phenomenon of the transit of Venus and its relationship to the beginnings of moving image technology.

In the Complete University Guide for 2013, the Ruskin School has been awarded the highest score in the subject tables for art and design in the UK.

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye wins the Future Generation Art Prize

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, one of the Ruskin’s visiting tutors, has been announced the Main Prize Winner of the Future Generation Art Prize 2012. Lynette will receive a 100,000 USD award; 60,000 USD in cash and 40,000 USD to be invested in the production of new work.
