We are delighted to share that Ruskin BFA student Elleanna Chapman will be showing her film essex.mov at Focal Point Gallery, Southend, as part of the exhibition 'S for Southend'. See it from 21st January, 2023!
“Essex-based artist Elleanna Chapman, who describes her work as “kitsch, cute, ugly, and strange”, presents this investigation into Essex.
essex.mov works to explore the real landscape of Essex through the people that have lived there. Nostalgic and silent footage of familiar places is met with quick snippets of interviews and crudely edited transitions, piecing together an always-changing image of Essex, its people, and its potential as a place today.
Elleanna is an interdisciplinary artist currently studying her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, having completed her Fine Art foundation at Central Saint Martins in 2021. Her practice is an inquiry into revolution and the radical, combining tacky aesthetic influences with a serious political agenda."
