Angel Dan Rong (荣丹) is a Chinese artist working across sculptures, installations, performances, imageries, and sound. Her practice explores around posthumanism, Sympoiesis, and uneven coexistence.
Having lived in China, Australia, the Netherlands, and the UK, her transnational experiences inform an ongoing exploration of the more-than-human world. Through anthropocentric critique and humor, Angel unfolds the power dynamics between species and systems. She invites the audience to reconsider their position within multispecies entanglements and the often-overlooked condition that shape them.
She creates immersive spaces filled of motion, spontaneity, contingency, personal experience, and unbalanced ethics. Angel questions how the nonhuman can remain autonomous while we work to expand our human perceptual sensitivity beyond the current status quo.
