Matthew Bartlet

My work unfurls as oblique, elliptical disclosures of interiority, recapitulating experiences of queerness into an idiolect of aesthetic and material gestures. I am interested in provisionality, slightness and the makeshift to create subtle inflections about what it is to mediate the i and the other. My practice accretes and layers meaning both physically and temporally - prior motifs or works are reconfigured as gradual semiotic iterations. What was once hurt could now become love.
