Lillian Tagg (b.2004) is an artist predominantly working with painting and textiles. Their practice currently centres around intersections of care and memory and the handmade. She traces connections between the image and sensory memory. Often working with or depicting fabric, skin and intense light, Lillian's work aims to illuminate the emotional thread running through objects which we hold close to us.
Making is Catharsis for Lillian, and she often utilises laborious and intense modes of creating to enhance the presence of care shown towards the pieces subject, and the dedication to the act of making itself. Grief and loss are frequently drawn upon, placed alongside longing, nostalgia and a lament on touch. Recently, Lillian has begun to use text as another from of 'healing stitch' in the emotional patchwork of their artwork.
