Amelia Sleight

I am a multidisciplinary artist who lives, breathes, works, and occasionally writes. I spend much of my time thinking- thinking about the next big thing, moving, and chasing. I see my queerness as a sensual, spatial and spiritual condition. I create unreal and imagined environments that blend ambiguous, dystopian, and non-physical worlds. Through destabilising perception and cultivating opacity, I work with fragmented and disappearing forms to centre narratives of mythology, humour, and desire. My body emerges as a brazen yet vulnerable creature, eroticising fluid gender binaries through a practice grounded in queer speculation. A collector at heart, I reclaim overlooked objects and breathe life into the unseen, transforming the functional while exposing the hidden capacities they conceal. Making is an extension of myself- a queer practice built upon the premise of chaos, containment, and fallibility.
