Aidana Orazgaliyeva (b.2004) doesn’t trust words. She exists comfortably in the spaces between, in the silences, in the seen, and not uttered. She transforms fragments of visions, dreams, and memories into images and paintings that become building blocks for her labyrinth towards the truth.
Chance and luck are key to Aidana’s process, things happening as if by magic: a perfectly peeled wall to cradle a collection of paintings, a wall socket positioned just so, a scene from a dream remembered suddenly and vividly. She likes to surround herself with things, building a nest on the floor of her studio and letting things emerge from somewhere outside of her control. To her, painting and drawing are acts of prayer, through which she is trying to reach the ‘Is’, the moment of absolute presence to the point of complete dissolution of her ‘self’.
