Tianyu Zhou (b.2000,China).
There are always things I will not understand, there are always things I am trying to figure out. My intuition and memories are combined together, and they have
became the puzzle I am trying to solve inside my own paintings. Painting is a
medium of self-discovery, a conversation between me, myself and a fraction of a
self-portrait. I cannot fully understand myself, I do not have the answer for every single question that is spoken on a painting. I do create problems and
questions, and I do like to solve them, or, they can also remain unsolved. I am
enjoying the opaque cover of my own identity. It is hidden under every shape
and colour on the canvas. I am my own audience. The paintings are encoded and enigmatic.
The process is always more important than the outcome.
Painting cannot be explained verbally.
