Kyra-Sky is an image maker, illustrator and writer, drawing parallels between both celestial and terrestrial bodies.
Kyra-Sky investigates how experiences of identity can be reframed or interpreted metaphorically through various astronomical phenomena. More specifically, how Afro-futurism and black-ecofeminism can be viewed in conjunction with the physical properties attributed to black holes.
They explore these themes through folk-ritual, drawing on familial wisdom and Caribbean folklore. Cultural practices and folk-ritual tie into black feminism when viewed through the lens of the demonic. The (racial) black and the (social) feminine are cast out, fringed and vilified; it is to do with expansion, growth and cosmic horror. kyra-Sky works with the void, the primordial egg - it holds their body, tempers it. They study the seed of blackness and its various forms, and find themself enveloped in it.
