Eunjo Lee

Eunjo Lee (b.1996, South Korea) is an artist and filmmaker based in London. She creates 3D animation and video art that explore the interconnections between humans and nature, objects and ideas, by integrating theoretical frameworks to contemplate the perception of life alongside mythological elements. Utilising software such as Unreal Engine and Blender to create 3D films and Virtual Reality experiences, she aims to experiment with the spirituality of digital media. The concept of spirituality aligns with the new materialistic worldview, which emphasises the sensation of connectivity where the category of 'self' expands to encompass a cosmically co-evolving perspective that recognises all entities as active agents. This perspective seeks not to frame digital media and AI merely as societal issues that either maximise human convenience or impart harmful stimuli to the mind. Rather, it proposes a sense of life that can expand when the concept of ‘consciousness’ is infused into machines, transforming them into an 'Internet of Living Things' and including non-human and non-living objects through digital art. In 2023, she was honoured with several awards, including the Warden’s Prize from Goldsmiths University for her BA in Fine Art and History of Art with First Class Honours, the Best Animation Award at the Feel The Reel International Film Festival, and the New Blood Art Emerging Art Prize.
