Oliver Wiseman

Oliver is interested in the paradoxical nature of utopias, worlds born from fear or want. Can a perfect world ever materialise in physical space, or will there always be a new utopia to dream of? Working mainly with sculpture, he aimed to turn his studio itself into an evolving, escapist installation. He created false windows from mirrors and scrap wood, and scavenged leftover paint to immerse himself in a colourful landscape. Oliver’s more mobile works use local timber and Portland stone, as well as the broken glass and forgotten cobbles of Oxford’s gutters.
