I work with painting, mixed-media objects, hand embroidery, and performance to speak about the ongoing, inseparable and ever-transforming relationship between my experiences residing in a sentient human body, my unconsciousness and my internalised socio-cultural logicality in a materialised way. Inspired by the wide discourse around feminist psychoanalysis, gender theories and visual culture studies, my practice over the last year has evoked my intra-psychic negotiations with my understanding of femininity as a fabricated myth, experiences of residing in a disciplined and socio-culturally gendered body, my long-term pathological experiences of having what the modern psychiatry calls obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), and the external expectation of social normality and sexuality.
