Alondra Vázquez López

Alondra Vázquez López is a multidisciplinary artist that focuses on interrogating the politics of mobility, cultural memory loss, borders, and citizenship. Through video, painting, and collage work, her practice makes use of iconography, sound, and rituals familiar to Latinx communities like her own.

Alondra has an MSc. in Migration Studies from the University of Oxford, a B.A. in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration from Yale University, and is currently an MFA candidate at the Ruskin School of Art. Her practice is based on previous ethnographic research and work at the US-Mexico border regarding clandestine migration in the Americas. Alondra’s ultimate focus is on making art for her community and conveying her community’s histories and experiences.
