Skye Seipp

For me, my practice lies in the pursuit of beauty. Above all else, I prioritise creating drawings that are aesthetically pleasing. The allure of beauty serves as the foundation upon which I construct my work. I study beauty, vanity, as well as the dynamic between higher and lower pleasures. I am hardened in my belief that the visual impact of my drawings is paramount before imbuing my work with deeper meaning. Through the rendering of fish, glass, and alcohol, I aim to engage viewers with the inherent allure of these subjects. Glass serves as a metaphorical lens, reflecting our preoccupation with appearances. Fish embody the fleeting nature of beauty, while alcohol represents indulgence and escapism. Through their interplay, my work prompts viewers to reflect on the delicate balance between superficial beauty and the underlying complexities of our desires and societal behaviours.
