Rachel Prince

Rachel Prince (she/they) makes site-specific performances, carried out with very particular but often unsuspecting audiences in mind. Lots of her performances consist of careful and deliberate actions which target institutions but appear somewhat cryptic or understated. Collaboration is a key part of their practice, with multiple performers improvising within parameters that Rachel sets for the work. The making and documenting of the performances gives rise to the creation of installation, text, sound and video works. Irony and humour, trust and censorship, and her queer identity have been themes in her recent work which has critiqued the University of Oxford – she cannot tell you what she is critiquing them for, because they say so. She was the director and curator of a queer feminist exhibition called Spilt Milk in 2023.
