Georgie Salmond

Georgie’s practice combines life casting, mould making, the sculpting of materials and animatronics. She works mainly in resin, silicone, latex and plaster. These materials and techniques allow her to link work via uncanny resemblance to the human body as well as draw out contradictions and tensions within each material. In doing so she take inspiration from feminine sexualities and the abject as well as carnivorous and barbed plants.

For the degree show Georgie has produced two abstracted and inverted life casts in silicone and hair. She has been thinking about relationships between people close to her: which often find themselves incoherent. Other strands of her thinking include disgust, eroticism and disruption.
