Elliot Roberts

Born in Devon in 2002, Elliot Roberts is a painter whose work explores memory, landscapes, class, and the history of painting itself. Although they may not directly depict the location and the characters that populate it, the work still relates to an almost haptic memory of the brewery workplace; a location and culture which has shaped so much of Elliot’s recent lived experience and subject matter.

The art is not about the brewery itself, though that context is certainly the ‘stage’ for the workplace culture and theatrics - stuff that undoubtedly goes back generations - but, that which is truly untranslatable to the outsider and is perhaps beyond allpossible representation.
