Cerena Parkinson

Cerena Parkinson is a Multi-Disciplinary Jamaican-American Artist. She holds an MFA from The Ruskin School of Art, The University of Oxford and a BFA from The Cooper Union for The Advancement of Science and Art, A’24. A native of Crown Heights, Brooklyn New York, Ms.Parkinson’s practice is a synergistic amalgamation of the immigrant experience, documenting the complex beauty of the Afro- Diasporic identity. The tapestries of her artwork visually depict “The Parenthetical Theory” which she has created and researched. “The Parenthetical Theory” explores the role of discursive and physical space in the formation of Trans Atlantic Diasporic Identity. Her research in the UK begun at The Slade School of Fine Art in 2023 when she led an exchange study documenting Parenthetical Spaces of restaurants and record stores in immigrant enclaves through drawing and sculpture. Her work is enlivened by the love for her community and the power of the lived experience in uniting generational stories transcendent of geographic locations. locations. She has exhibited in New York City and The Mall Galleries London. She has been selected for 2025-26 Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School in London.
