Bill Roberts

Bill Roberts is a Visiting Tutor in the History & Theory of Visual Culture at the Ruskin, where he convenes a course on 'Exhibiting the Contemporary'.

Bill's research explores exchanges between contemporary art and (architectural, interior, furniture and graphic) design. He is currently completing a monograph entitled Art, Design and Capital since the 1980s, to be published by Routledge.

Bill studied History of Art at the University of Edinburgh and the Courtauld Institute of Art, where he received his PhD in 2010, focusing on legacies of institutional critique in neoconceptual and activist art during the ‘long 1990s’ (1989-2001). His research articles have appeared in journals including ARTMarginsArt HistoryThird Text and Tate Papers, and his reviews have appeared in Oxford Art JournalMute, Journal of Visual CultureJournal of Curatorial Studies and Art & the Public Sphere.
